Van Vu



Van Vu has been a McMaster University Continuing Education instructor since 2010. She is a member of the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Van holds an MSW from Wilfred Laurier University specializing in both individual/family counselling, and community development.  Van has completed post graduate training in Substance Abuse and Trauma Counselling, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Brief Solution Focused Family Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, CBT, and ACT.

Van currently works as a Clinical Therapist on the Complex Trauma Team at an outpatient children’s mental health clinic in Hamilton. Van is also trained as an addictions therapist and she worked for several years at an addictions agency providing consultation, advocacy, and treatment to individuals and their families involved with the child protection services. Van’s past clinical work experiences also include forensic assessment services, children’s mental health treatment in a number of settings, and over 10 year-experience working as a Parole Officer in both community and custodial settings.

Van has developed and facilitated workshops, groups (for children, youth and adults), and staff-in services on various topics. She was an instructor for the MSW program at the University of Windsor and at Sheridan College.
