Valerie Thompson
Valerie Thompson is a Senior HR Leader
and Business Partner with 30 years of corporate human resources experience.
She’s strategically partnered with leadership teams up to the EVP level
and supported a wide range of functionally diverse client groups across a
number of prominent, global, multi-industry organizations. Valerie established her HR consulting business, Thriving
Minds, in 2016 and joined McMaster University's Centre for Continuing Education
in 2018.
Valerie is a member of the Human Resources Professionals
Association and holds both the CHRP and CHRL professional designations. As a
long time HRPA mentor, she’s played an active role in supporting the career
development of emerging HR talent. Valerie is also a Certified Scrum Master,
Agile Talent Professional and Certified Change Manager.
In addition to her HR and Psychological Health and Safety studies
at Humber College and University of Fredericton respectively, Valerie has
completed the Workplace Mental Health Law certificate program at York
University’s Osgoode Hall Law School. She’s a Certified CMHA Psychological
Health & Safety Advisor with complimentary mental health first aid, suicide
awareness and applied suicide intervention skills training.
