Transfer Credit

Upon enrolment in the program, a student may receive up to a maximum of 6 units of advanced credit for the Certificate option only. No transfer credits will be granted for the Certificate of Completion.

Courses considered for transfer credit must be equivalent to the McMaster courses that they replace; specifically,

  • Courses must have an 80% content/curricula overlap and a similar number of equivalent to classroom hours;
  • Courses must be listed on an official transcript from an accredited academic institution with a minimum grade of C- ; and,
  • Courses must be taken within the last 5 years 

Students currently enrolled in a Health and Social Service program plan prior to May 1, 2020 may transfer their courses to either the Health and Social Service Certificate of Completion (3 courses, 9-units) or the Health Social Service Certificate (5 courses, 15-units) program plan.  This transfer does not apply to students who have completed all requirements for a Health and Social Service program plan before May 1, 2020.
